The Cocker Spaniel is a medium size  dog  breed . Despite its name, its birth took place in Spain, where the rose bush or marsh birds to be slaughtered and then collected. Arrived in England and Wales, up to 1800 were used to hunt woodcock. There came to be called Cocker Spaniel

Origin:
Although there are findings of paintings representing animals of Philip II of Macedonia like these dogs, believed to be three possibilities: appeared in Spain, were created by John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland to King Henry VIII, or appeared in 1570, in the book of John Caius, who described 22 races, placing them as used in falconry. From the seventeenth century, the development followed a line of cockers clearer. First spainel the word has been accepted, particularly in England, where race was considered specifically English.
